Ashley Griffith started her dance career in Helena, MT at the age of 4. Many years later she moved to Missoula to attend the University of Montana dance program during which time she danced with Headwaters Dance Company and spent a semester studying traditional dance in Ghana, West Africa. Around the time Ashley graduated she met Joy French and was invited to work on a project with her. When Ashley moved to Helena in 2011 she continued to work with Joy as well as the CoMotion Dance Project. In Helena she was the Production Manager and Administrative Director for Queen City Ballet where she made her second appearance in the Nutcracker nearly two decades after the first. Eventually she was lured back to Missoula and made her return debut in a BBD show in the spring of 2015. After years as BBD's self-proclaimed biggest fan Ashley is excited to be an official member of the company!
Kaitlin Kinsley was born and raised in a suburb of The Big Apple and started dancing when she was five years old. She discovered her true love for the west while attending the University of Montana. She received a BA in Dance from UM in 2013. Now entering her 20th year of dancing, Kaitlin teaches for BBD MoDE at Big Sky High School and Sentinel High School, as well as Dance Integration for SPARK!. Kaitlin is also a company member of The CoMotion Dance Project.
Allison (Herther) McKinney was born and raised in South Dakota where she first began her early dance training in a variety of forms. In 2013 she graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. In previous years she has danced for Headwaters Dance Company, The CoMotion Dance Project, and Bare Bait Dance. She is thrilled to be dancing with Bare Bait once again!
Lindsey Schwickert began her training in Whitefish, Montana at the age of four. Traveling to Kalispell, she became a member of the Northwest Ballet Company and Azure Vision Dance. Her desire to dance landed her at the University of Montana in 2008 where she graduated with a BA in Dance and a BA in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. Currently, Ms. Schwickert teaches dance at Ballet Arts Academy and with VSA Montana, teaching special needs middle school students. Lindsey is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. She is currently pursuing her MBA at the University of Montana.
Laurel Sears is a Montana native with deep roots in contemporary dance practices and dance improvisation. She is currently a member of Bare Bait Dance and teaches dance in the community. She holds an MFA from ASU, a BA from UM and a Mat Pilates certification.
Jessica Shontz has been in love with dance since before her first memories. Class and performances are where she finds her zen, so she's reveling in her fifth season with BBD. Jess has been fortunate to call Montana home for her entire life, and she wishes to give BBD her eternal gratitude for spreading dance in Missoula.
Jasmine Woods began studying ballet and tap as a child in Florida. After moving to Tennessee, Jasmine performed with Pointe West Dance Company and Go! Contemporary Dance Company. She studied dance and anthropology at the College of Charleston, where she performed with the Robert Ivey Ballet. She completed her B.A. in Liberal Studies at The University of Montana in Missoula where she had the pleasure of joining Headwaters Dance Company. You may recognize Jasmine from previous BBD productions, smiling and handing you a ticket. She's thrilled to be joining this remarkable company of women on stage.
