7TH SEASON COMPANY MEMBER

Tara McFarland is originally from Salmon, ID. She studied dance at Mills College, Arizona State University. She holds a BS in Dance from the University of Idaho and an MS in Dance Science from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance (City University of London). She has danced professionally with Relay Dance Collective, Converge Dance Festival, Evolving Doors Dance, Louder than Words Dance Theatre, & guested with 3rd Law Dance/Theatre. Tara worked as a dance screening research assistant with Trinity Laban Health & Seattle Dance & Performing Arts Medicine, served as a steering committee member of the Healthy Dancer Network with Dance Wire, and presented research at the 2018 Idaho Dance Educators Conference.

Strongly invested in the Montana dance scene, Tara is an adjunct at the University of Montana and teaches dance at Studio M & Ballet Arts Academy. In the greater community, she has been a faculty/choreographer for Garden City Ballet, Dance the Divide, MT Dance Arts Association, and On Center Performing Arts. Tara spent five years as a Teaching Artist in BBD's MoDE Program, and her choreographic work has been featured in bbds Springboard (2018,2021) & UM’s Dance in Concert 2023. She is excited to dance in BBD’s 13th season!
